As I walked down past the castle it was all grey but I could see that the sun would eventually rise - a bit later than advertised - from above the grey cloud.
I found a spot sheltered from the N wind and waited while Daisy watched the world go by at my side.
The waves were breaking with spectacular crests and flying spray but under the pre-dawn grey light they weren't going to make much of a photograph.
I thought if I waited long enough it might just work out.
Sometimes nature rewards the patient watcher...
I started to get too cold and reckoned I probably had a couple of OK photos so we headed up past the castle and looked for some different angles.
