changing waves

18th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

A reflective morning on the wet sand but it was the light on the waves that caught the imagination this morning.

There were calm moments between each burst of huge waves.  The tireless breakers rolled and crashed and the vista across the bay changed every second.

part of the pack

16th March 2019, Boston Links, 5pm

Gorgeous late afternoon sunshine on the beach wandering with the family of dogs...

Daisy loves being part of this pack.

Down on the windy beach this afternoon I couldn't resist getting down to ground level to photograph these perched pebbles. You can see the sand flying...Hopefully the camera will survive!

17th March 2019, Hauxley, 8am

We walk towards the rising sun
every step leading us onwards.
Among a thousand footprints
our path winds its way.
Together we'll see
what lies around the corner.

on the mend

15th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

We had an almost normal walk and daisy wanted to play for the first time in several days.

She was still holding up her paw but obviously getting better.

15th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 11am

Back again with a group from HPB Lucker Hall.  Fiercely windy but a lovely energising walk with lovely people.

bring it on

13th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 7am

Britain is being battered by 'storm Gareth'

If this is bad weather, then bring it on!

14th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 3pm

Daisy's sore paw is well enough to get her to the beach but after a few yards she stopped and would go no further...

It was a nice place to sit for a while...

Lowry Landscape

9th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 10am

A day of silvery sea and sand against an inky black sky

It is a quest of mine to try and find a photograph that evokes the style of LS Lowry.

I think this one is the closest I've come.

These Exmoor ponies seem to be in a huff with each other...

birds and waves

8th March 2019, Embleton Bay, 7am

Sunrise is well before 7am now but when we got to the beach there was still colour in the sky even though the sun was clear of the horizon.

The gulls were playing with the morning waves.

Wednesday, 6 March 2019

a rainy day

6th March 2019, Lindisfarne, 10am

A blissfully quiet midweek visit to Holy Island due to a very wet weather forecast.

The sun broke through and we had a lovely walk.

6th March 2019, Simonside, 5pm

The rain has been fairly persistent up in the hills and the rivers are all running high.

Tuesday, 5 March 2019

sunny start

5th March 2019, Longhorsley, 7am

Inland it was a beautiful frosty morning with spring blossom.

But I had to go to the beach...

5th March 2019, Howick Bay, 8am

Today needed a haiku

Long morning shadows
Me, the dog, the rising sun.
A peaceful moment

Looking back to our morning beach.  We left a few footprints and paw prints behind us...

The long shadows didn't last long and rainy clouds swept in across the coast just north of us.

waiting for the spring

1st March 2019, Embleton Bay, 7am

Even on a 'grey day' there is so much beauty in the sky.

I shall call these "waiting for the spring"

Tuesday, 26 February 2019

weird sun

26th Feb 2019, Beadnell Bay, 7am

The sun appeared over the horizon and atmospheric effects distorted it into this weird shape

27th Feb 2019, Football Hole, 10am

I love a run along the beach and today was exceptional for February.  It was 14 C and sunny without being too hot.

adding to sunrise

25th Feb 2019, Embleton Bay, 7am

Just in time for the sunrise this morning.

It was nice to photograph the sunrise reflected in the water of The Skaith but for me the best photo was when Daisy wandered into view.
