Old Henry

25th October 2014, Newton Links, 7am

Beautiful dawn sky this morning.

Eventually I persuaded Daisy to stand where I wanted her...

Over Football Hole.  The sky changes colour every minute in the run up to sunrise.

Good old Henry.
Henry's well known around here. He's very old so he doesn't walk far but he does like a swim. This morning he was lying on the path waiting for his pals to come back from their walk and pick him up. He's an old sweetie

Honky

23rd October 2014, Embleton Bay, 5pm

The blue sky faded to dusk leaving a band of colour above the sea.

From our lofty perch Daisy surveyed the humps and bumps of the golf course with every sense ready...

As dusk fell we headed home and the geese did too.  They suddenly rose up out of the field they'd been feeding in and headed to their night roosting site. Just after take-off the initially untidy mass of birds formed into skeins for the short, noisy evening flight.

lichen light

19th October 2014, Newton Point, 4pm

Something about the late afternoon light filtering through the clouds made the yellow lichen look striking.

Daisy took the opportunity to chew on a bit of dried seaweed...

cold = quiet

11th October 2014, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

There was a real autumn chill to the morning but it was very beautiful and with the cold comes the quiet.

after the stormy weather

5th October 2014, Beadnell Bay, 7am

Daisy and the rising sun...

7th October 2014, Beadnell Bay, 5:30pm

Some recent stormy weather has stirred up the sea and the waves were worth standing and watching

perfect stillness

4th October 2014, Beadnell Bay, 5:30pm

This morning was very wet but the band of rain passed over during the day and by 5pm only the last clouds were visible as they headed East. As we walked down the beach the last rays of the setting sun in the West lit up the clouds in the East above the perfect stillness of the beach.

Western Sun

2nd October 2014, Low Newton, 6:30am

Another pre-dawn walk and the light was beautiful. We were behind the boats at around 7am - just a few minutes before dawn now...

2nd October 2014, Newton Point, 5pm

A late afternoon walk with the sun pretty much West behind me...
