Still misty this morning.  After an hour walking in the sea-fret the sun briefly showed it's still shining up there somewhere...

In our usual spot on a gorgeous day. The clouds look a bit odd as the sky is filled with smoke from a fire over on the moors.

Not much beach due to high tide so we stuck to the dunes...

Up on the wee crag and the beautiful gorse has all suddenly gone.  The gorse bloomed early and burned bright but briefly this year...

mindfulness

Today's PhotoWalk with Vicky started dry but by the end the sun was out and the sky was blue.  There's nothing to beat a couple of hours talking, thinking and breathing photography to clear the head of all the mind-clutter.

There's a pleasing mindfulness in getting lost in observation of the world around you and in the creative process of making a photograph.

It was like winter today - at least more like early March than early May.  A strong N wind was kicking the sea up into a raging swirl of waves.

forbidding hills

Up early so I caught the worst of the day's weather as there was a light drizzle in the air.

7th May 2017, St Cuthbert's Cave, 3pm

The rest of the day was bright and breezy - it was nice to be out and about inland and away from the beach for a change of air.  The distant cheviot hills looked a bit forbidding.

A sign of spring - this maple/acer is festooned with dangling flower clusters.

birthday walk

5th May 2017, Howick shore, 3pm

Daisy's 7th birthday so we walked for a nice long time along the sunny paths at Howick.

It struck me that we could all learn from dogs...

sun is out, flowers are out

'tis May and after a long dull period it's great to see a bright sunny day.  The wild flowers are appearing too.

This is a first for me - It's cuckoo flower or Lady's smock.

and more obviously bluebells

From my perch above Embleton Bay the view is tremendous but it's too big to capture in a single photograph. So I like to zoom in on individual parts of the view. Today it was the sunny sea that caught my eye.
