sunrise story

15th September 2018, Embleton Bay, 6am

Sunrise was at 6:36 and the weather looked promising so we headed down to the beach in plenty of time (the best colours are before the sunrise)

I was glad we did as we had the beach to ourselves and there was only a narrow band of colour between the horizon clouds and the grey clouds above.

We woke up the gulls from their night time roost as we passed the Skaith.  No reflections of dawn in the Skate at this time of year.  We have to be at, or past, equinox for that.

Some gentle colour SE over the castle

But the vivid colours were out towards the point of sunrise and the reflections on the sea were beautiful.

We walked down until the Emblestones were between us and sunrise for a different shot.

Very quickly the colours faded and the sun disappeared into the higher cloud.  I amused myself taking photos of my own footprints while Daisy sniffed about.  The waves caught me out though...
