up and along

30th November 2016, Embelton Bay, 7:30am

We wandered up the dunes then along the beach all in peaceful solitude.

failed.

29th November 2016, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

A few different aspects of this morning's sunrise dog walk.

The highlight was the siting of a very rare bird which I failed to photograph!

29th November 2016, Fallodon woods, 11am

As I ran through the woods I had to stop to photograph this beautiful fern

Walkies

27th November 2016, Newton Point, 2pm

Playing 'dodge the cows'. The farmer seems to be having fun moving them every other day so you never know where they're hiding.

Once we were in a clear field and the sun came out things were much more relaxing.

two's company but 11's a crowd.

27th November 2016, 6:30am

I was up early to ease my aching old bones and we walked up the golf course in enchanting darkness with a crescent moon hanging above the castle.

A thick bank of cloud sat on the southern horizon blocking all thoughts of a dramatically colourful sunrise.

We headed back down to the beach passing no less than 11 photographers all heading for the same spot to photograph the "cannonball boulders".  It's a nice location and I've photographed from there before but the area offers much more peaceful locations, without the crowds, to those who know...

Me and Daisy wandered down the beach and I took a couple of shots of the early light on the sea and the sand pools on the beach before heading home for breakfast and ibuprofen.

every tide

25th November 2016, Embleton Bay, 7am

The same old view
But every tide brings different patterns to the sand
And every sunrise brings new light to a different sky.

Howick on the cusp

23rd November 2016, Howick Gardens, 4pm

At this time of year the gates of Howick Gardens are open to wandering photographers.  They are truly beautiful at any time of year but even in this autumn/winter late afternoon there is something to photograph.

For anyone who only comes to the beach in the summer, here's what a frosty morning looks like...

white sand

18th November 2016, Beadnell Bay, 7am

The car was frozen for the first time and once we reached the beach the sand was white where the sea hadn't got to it.

A beautiful morning.

18th November 2016, At home, 1pm

I had to go out.  Daisy opened one eye from her curly dog sleep as if to say "whatever - see you later"

18th November 2016, Howick shore, 3pm

A lovely long walk that started in the blue sky afternoon and ended as the evening brought on a pastel sky .

watching the sunrise

15th November 2016, Newton Point, 7:30am

Just in the nick of time to catch the sunrise.  Daisy sat and took in the view.

...and here's a moving version with a soundtrack of "Lazy Daisy" on the octave mandolin...

the kitchen sink

14th November 2016, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

We watched the light change at the horizon as the sun got closer.

These hut owners haven't packed everything when they went home for the winter...

I was just thinking how nice the sea was without any sky when these swans came flapping past...

Our usual final stopping point so that Daisy can survey the golf course.  A bit windy this morning.
