An evening wander down to the sea to see what there was to see.
A beautiful empty low-tide beach was the answer. Better to sit and contemplate than for photographs but as I wandered back I saw the evening light shining through this fern.
In previous heatwaves I've noticed unseasonable autumn colours and even falling leaves from stressed trees. This fern was obviously struggling a bit in the heat while it's neighbours still carried their summer green.
