camera phone

I ran from Low Newton and arrived at The Skaith just as the sun came over the horizon.

I'm often asked what camera I use for my landscape photographs. I seem to always be in a hurry so these days I use the phone quite often on the basis that "the best camera in the world is the one you have with you". 

Generally I use compact cameras (I have Canon G series) because they are decent quality but very portable. I also like to zoom in and my phone just doesn't cut it except for standard or wide angle shots. 

This morning I carried a small Sony compact which is light enough to have in my pocket when I'm running and it was nice to be able to zoom in on the sunrise. 

I like to see photographers on the beach with their tripods and heavy gear (see photo 2). It shows dedication to their craft and the tripod slows you down and allows you to enjoy your photography in a bit of zen way. Just because I rarely do it myself doesn't mean I don't respect others who do take their time.
