This "floating island" mirage effect is supposedly very rare and happens when the air is very cold. I've seen it a few times at Coquet Island over the years but then I do tend to wander on beaches in freezing cold weather more than most people I suppose!23 Feb 2022, Howick, 9am
Some of the beautiful snowdrops at Howick. Always a joy to see and a timely reminder that spring will come along soon enough

Every walk brings an adventure...
Sometimes something catches my eye.
Even on a blue sky, blue sea morning it can be small-scale undramatic things that grab my attention.
Yesterday's brisk winds had left pebbles sitting pretty on their own pedestals of sand. I could've spent quite a while lying on the beach lost in the process of finding photographs in among the thousands of stones spread along the beach.
This is what I call "mindful photography". By filling your head with only the notion of seeing photographs in the immediate environment around you, the rest of the world and its trials and tribulations are forgotten for a while.
