I thought I'd have a nice sunrise run on one of my favourite sections of coast.

It was a wonderful hour although a chilly wind kept me company all the way.

in a hurry

I raced around this morning in a hurry to leave the village behind. I was driven by the desire to watch the sunrise through the trees without interference of rooftops and wires. 

My path led straight towards the colours in the southern sky and my ears were filled with birdsong proclaiming their spring from every hedge. It seemed a shame to hurry, and maybe I should have taken my time but there were no photographs to be had and I wanted the clear view. 

Once in the fields the sky was revealed to the horizon and I slowed to a more appreciative pace. As quickly as the sun appeared it climbed into cloud and the golden promise of sunrise faded to a grey morning.

Today I scattered Daisy's ashes on the dunes at Embleton Bay where she can rest peacefully and I can say hello when I'm passing.

I came over the dunes just before sunrise and ran up the side of the sea as the sun came over the horizon

A sunrise walk up a windy and chilly Simonside.

The moon stole the show on the way up but it was a gorgeous morning.

A beautiful walk down the bumpy road and along the frozen beach.  

With every step, the sunrise colours changed over my head.
