greyness

30th September 2021, Howick, 7:30am

This weather is fine if you have time of your own
And the right clothes to stay warm.

The grey sea is flecked with white
And the grey wind is flecked with rain

We wander aimlessly
Taking in lungfuls of the cool autumn air

changing light

 25th September 2021, Warkworth, 9am

Gentle but beautiful light changing constantly out over Coquet Island.

Morning Story

 24th September 2021, Embleton Bay, 6:20am

I was here half an hour before sunrise and it was looking very promising...

Ten minutes before sunrise and the clouds lit up from beyond the horizon

The moment of the sunrise.

I hopped over to get the waters of the skaith in the foreground

Daisy and me wandered up the beach to Low newton and back and as we returned all the colours were gone to be replaced by a bright sunny morning with windy waves in front of the castle.

special moments in a special place

 20th September 2021, Howick, 7am

Too late for sunrise but the sun's arrival was delayed by a bank of cloud so it was worth the early rise.

21st September 2021, Hauxley, 7pm

We gathered to celebrate our family's much loved Grandma and to scatter her ashes in the sea at her favourite place.

It was beautiful and peaceful and later we returned to watch the sun set and the beach and rock pools were strewn with flowers.

 23rd September 2021, Warkworth, 4pm

The wind has been strong recently but it was blowing offshore so the sea has stayed quite calm.

doing impressions

 17th September 2021, Warkworth, 6:45am

A nice sunrise from the road to the beach but too late to see it from the beach...

This impressionistic effect comes from the reflections in the water (and then turning the photo upside down)

good times

 16th September 2021, Alnmouth, 7am

One of the Alnmouth rowing skiffs heads out to sea for a sunrise session.

They always look like they're having a great time...

Sunrise gold transitioning to daylight blue.

gaps

 15th September 2021, Alnmouth, 6:30am

The sunrise was stuck behind a bank of cloud out over the sea.

The light changed constantly as the sun rose and occasionally broke through a gap in the clouds.

Just as a bright blue day finally broke over us on the shore, a heavy shower poured rain onto the sea. I'm sure the sea didn't mind.

15th September 2021, Alnmouth, 10am

Back here for a PhotoTrail.

15th September 2021, Warkworth, 4pm

A very summery end to the afternoon.

tricks

 11th September 2021, Hauxley, 9am

Nice and quiet here this morning.

Patterns in the coal dust on the beach.

The spaniels were having their "sit & stay" lesson.  Daisy doesn't do tricks!
