Sunrise was delayed by a few minutes by the cloud on the horizon.
Many things go into photography. Patience and not caring about cold fingers definitely went into this one.
Also important is being selective. The waves are so different with every passing moment. This photo is one of 14 images. No-one needs (or wants) to see the 13 images that aren't as good.
