reflecting on a warm September

30th September 2014, Beadnell Bay, 6pm

As September 2014 leaves us, we've not had much in the way of autumn coolness. A couple of days of 8 deg in the morning but this evening it's 20 degC + and the light is beautiful.

As we walked up we saw our little egret on the Long Nanny again.  They breed at Druridge Bay but they're spreading N and I'm sure the warm weather helps.  Yesterday I saw around 100 swallows on a phone wire - I fancied they looked very confused and argumentative as to whether it was time to leave or not.

same time, different beach

27th September 2014, Embleton Bay, 7am

Another beautiful sunrise so we went to a different beach - The Skaith on Embleton Bay is my favourite location...

Up into the dunes for autumn colours and golden light on a creosote hut...

Many faces

21st September 2014, Embleton Bay, 9am

Ben and Wayne's training course and we tried to find different angles on the sandcastle...

The ferns and grasses were whizzing around in the wind but this is a trick shot for fun.

22nd September 2014, Low Newton, 6:30am

gentle colours reflected on the sand at first...

Daisy's new flashing collar was useful to keep track of her at the start of the walk but soon the sky got brighter...

22nd September 2014, Football Hole, 5pm

4 Daisy faces while we relaxed on the sand

sunrise days

8th September 2014, Beadnell Bay, 6:30am

A beautiful dawn reflected on the beach

10th September 2014, Low Newton, 7am

The sunrise was OK, nothing special, and then a spectacular ray of light shot up through the clouds

10th September 2014, Newton Point, 4pm

Is this an Indian Summer? The summer's never stopped - it just seems to have gone and on and on...

Daisy had some BBQ charcoal in her mouth. It probably tasted of sausage fat!

Daisy and Grace. Legs-a-go-go with Grace's new poodle-cut.

11th September 2014, Football Hole, 6:30am

Another misty sunrise. I found myself imagining this as a subject Van Gogh could have painted beautifully. I think the waves remind me of his brushstrokes.

autumn comes around

5th September 2014, Embleton Bay, 6am

The mist sat low over the sea for the 2nd day in a row. The sunrise was hidden from view...

...but then there was a 2nd dawn as the sun rose out of the fog and into the watery sky above.

There was an autumn feel to the morning with the mist the turning ferns all around. (As I write this afternoon it's back to summer.)
