Bright and Early

31st Aug12, Embleton Bay, 5:30am

I woke up early and it looked beautiful outside. 4 degC and the sunrise due just after 6am so off we went. Daisy's always a willing companion.

First thing was the full moon setting behind the golf clubhouse. This is a blue moon - the 2nd full moon in the month of August.

The pre-dawn light is beautiful. I knew the sun would rise a little N of due East so I set off for a good location.
Up on the golf course and the first hints of the sun backlighting the clouds. Daisy was a distant beige speck somewhere over the fairways but I decided to trust her to come back - she always does.
Back on the beach to look for interesting foreground textures and patterns. There were 3 photographers at the S end of Embleton Bay this morning but this is the more interesting view for me.
Daisy's trail...
...and mine. I'll call this "walking home after the sunrise"
The golden light of the low sun catching the edge of the sand
Daisy's gaze takes her back to the golf course for one last run before home.

A very blue evening on the beach. The huge beach was smooth and wet with perfect reflections. Gorgeous.

cultivated or wild?

27th Aug12, Glendale Show, 1pm

Our first visit to the agricultural show near Wooler and it was great fun even in the rain!
A few shots from the cut flower competition...

28th Aug12, Newton Links, 8am
From beautiful flowers to beautiful wild things. A common stinging nettle with the sun behind it.

A typical walk for Daisy. Some fun and games...
a rest to cool the feet...
then fun and games again...(spot the ball anyone?)

At the seaside, in the sea

20th Aug12, Newton Links, 4pm & 9pm

Busy on the beach but we found a wee corner and Daisy seems very happy to be here splashing in the cool water.

Another nice sunset walk on the beach. Daisy was enjoying a bonus 3rd walk...

...while I was up to my ankles in the sea for this shot. Hope it was worth it.

Foregrounds

16th Aug12, Football Hole, 8pm

Daisy and me went out after tea for a walk tonight. Such a nice sunset that I photographed it with 3 different foregrounds. I couldn't decide which one I liked to you've got all 3!

It's forecast to rain tomorrow but it doesn't feel that way tonight.

sand tracks

13th Aug12, Embleton Bay, 9am

A nice training course with 4 enthusiastic photographers. Someone had been cycling up to the castle - hard work judging by the deep tracks in the soft sand...

Ragwort beside my most-often photographed beach house.

inspiration returns

I've been a bit distracted by my new gallery opening and have been wandering the coast with Daisy not seeing the photographs I normally see.

As things click into a routine my creative eye comes back into focus too. An interesting process to witness.

Daisy digs on the beach

A beach scattered with natural textures of stone and wood.

Someone had created a mini-stonehenge. Lovely work. I welcome creative visitors like this.

12th Aug12, Boulmer, 4pm

I'm shooting a wedding hereabouts at the weekend so it was good to wander around and see what's what.

These backlit poppies were beautiful in the westering sun.

Daisy jumped and raced around as she does...

We sat and looked out at the sea over the cobles and other fishing boats of this unique little fishing village.
