Wading Through Grass

After another night of rain and it was very wet underfoot. Waders might have kept me dry in the long grass but Daisy was soaked from top to tail.

Inland again

27th June12, Harthope Valley 9am

The first ever Cheviots PhotoTrail and the rain held off for us.

The rivers were nice and full and the foliage was strong and vibrant. We spent a while looking at moving water photography.

All in all a very enjoyable walk followed by coffee and a bun in Wooler - a good day.

Wet Walk in The Woods

After a very busy day at the wonderful Alnmouth Arts Festival, we went for a damp walk through the woods around Howick...

Our legs were wetter than our heads as the soaking, lush undergrowth was wetter than the rain.

ferns

I was at a nice exhibition at The Queen's Hall in Hexham at the weekend featuring photographs with patterns and textures. Sitting in the garden today I noticed the sunlight shining through these ferns...

elsewhere in the garden, in the shade, and the ferns take on a different character.

No Shelter

It was lovely at home sheltering from the wind behind the house but out on the coast the SE wind was biting. We sat and watched the sea and talked of many things.

and as we sat we were under the protective gaze of our watchdog.

verdant

A very green morning. After the rain of the last couple of days, the hay meadow is flourishing.

Orchids in among the wet grass.

Sitting quietly on the crag along came a barn owl. Daisy was elsewhere so we sat peacefully, me and the barn owl, for a few minutes until Daisy came beside me and he flew off to his nest.

Out to sea all is blues and greys - quite a contrast to the greens of the land.
