all is calm

28th May12, Newton Links, 8am

Already warm at 8am. Yesterday evening we watched wisps of mist forming on the sand and confidently predicted a fret this morning - wrong again.

We walked along the back of dunes before climbing the ridge for a view over the beach. Not a breath of wind and the sea was as calm as it can be. There were 2 people on Beadnell Bay already so we went along to the next beach for peace & quiet!

busy morning

25th May12, Newton Point, 8am

It's all relative I know. My couple of meetings this morning didn't start until 10:30 so me and Daisy meandered along the beach looking at the sea, the rocks and the flowers for a good hour before heading home.

It was beautifully bright after a heavy sea-fret that had been encasing the whole coast only an hour before had lifted and dispersed in the strong sun. The grass and flowers were still dripping wet.

Phew, what a scorcher

23rd May12, Low Newton, 9am

Bill's training course today and what a day. The warmest of the year with a pleasant N breeze.

We started at Low Newton and walked up to the golf clubhouse for a cuppa and back via the wild flowers of the dunes to The Ship Inn and some happy al fresco diners.

standing, looking

22nd May12, Christon Bank, 6am

Up early for a breakfast business networking meeting but there's always time for a stroll through the woods. This is as far as we go but Daisy looks longingly into the empty field beyond the gate.

unpleasantly wet

18th May12, Harthope, 3pm

We were the only people walking up Harthope valley today and as the rain got heavier that seemed fair enough. Some lovely spots for photography and very different from the coast. This will be the venue for my new inland PhotoTrails which will be on my website soon.

Lichen = clean air. Plenty of clean air hereabouts.

Not bad for handheld at 1". Must come back with a tripod...

Raindrops on gorse.

Watching sheep.

pleasantly wet

17th May12, Bamburgh, 3pm

A very grey day with a soft rain. Not unpleasant for wandering around the quiet beaches just N of Bamburgh Castle.

BlueBell Woods

16th May12, Doxford, 3pm

The woods up this way are renowned locally for bluebells. Here's why...

bright but not early enough

12th May12, Low Newton 5:30 am

Early, but not early enough for sunrise. Still, it was well worth it. We passed one other chap around 6am who stomped past not saying a word - he looked annoyed that his solitude was disturbed.

bonny barnacles

11th May12, Howick Shore, 8am

The gorse is quite stunning - it's warm yellow clambering over hillsides and crags. Beautiful up close too.

11th May12, Seahouses, 4pm

A lovely bright afternoon - Daisy enjoyed a runabout with Stan the lurcher and they both came back with tongues lolling and grazes on their knees. Lurchers are too fast for their own good sometimes.

We pottered among the rocks and admired the patterns.

Back to Blue

9th May12, Newton Point, 8am

A fine morning with blue skies all around and it'll probably warm up soon (although there was ice on the car roof this morning)

Beadnell Bay and Football Hole from the top of the wee crag.

Daisy looking in earnest to see from which direction the next bit of fun will come.
