On a very bright sunny day we were down in the shadowy vale of The Long Walk at Howick to keep out of the bitingly cold wind. In a month the gardens will be open to the public which means they'll be closed to dogs. The start of February is snowdrop season but in the meantime this lonesome pine is one of my favourites to photograph.

On the trail of the lonesome pine
9th January11, Howick Gardens, 2pm
