Damp Forest

Another beautifully atmospheric trip to the forest. The atmosphere was helped by this week's podcast from This American Life - Truly awesome broadcasting.

Dreich

Dreich is a great Scottish word for damp, misty weather. It fascinates me that, although we're only half an hour from the Scottish border by car, we're still worlds apart in some aspects of language. There must be a Northumbrian word for damp, misty weather - it's not exactly rare!

Flying High and Sinking Low

This magnificent castle was in its last few minutes of existence as the tide surrounded and eroded its base. Even as it sunk beneath the waves the child who had built it had moved on to her kite.

Easter Weekend

This comment I heard sums up today's attitude to Easter... "The best thing Jesus did was stay in that cave for 3 days - it means we get a good, long weekend."

It's the usual holiday mixture of Paganism, Christianity and Consumerism.

So the beaches were busy and the sun came out for the visitors to Northumberland which was nice.

The fret/haar/mist was back in off the sea today but the woods were beautiful and full of life.

After earlier rain the sun came out for our walk. The rainclouds were clearing off over the sea.

Trooper likes to shelter in this WWII structural relic.

The spring flowers have evolved to bend with the wind.

Seasonal?

As the season's roll by I realise that the dunes, beach, sea and sky can all look exactly the same regardless of season. They can look different if there's snow or something exceptional but I need to look for signs of the season...

Other Dogs

Trooper doesn't like rude dogs - If they don't approach him with due deference he chases them off. Consequently my favourite dogs are dogs in the distance...
