After a weekend which involved a Saturday night out in Glasgow I was glad to be back on my beach. No noise, no crowds, no traffic, no choice! I left Glasgow when I was 22 and it's 22 years since I left. Cities are OK for great gigs but I like my home here.

I think Daisy was glad to be back too...

Another edge

3rd March11, Embleton Bay, 8am

There was an interesting edge to the clouds this morning. I have seen this once before...high cloud overhead with a shimmering bright edge out to the east.

At low tide there are lots of sheltered bays in between the rocks. The waves can't get in to disturb the clear, clean water.

coffee and puppy

2nd March11, Howick Coast, 8am

Another blue-sky morning and a beautiful walk down the coast.

The stone-age hut reconstruction is in a bit of a state after the weight of the snow caused it to start to collapse. I understand that it would have been made of oak by the mesolithic builders and a lot more solid than the birch/willow construction the students made.

It's a shame that it's boarded up with a warning sign now.

A nice break at Shoreline for some caramel shortbread and excellent coffee. Here's Farne; at 15 weeks she's lovely and puppy like with those sharp teeth that I said I'd never miss...

Daisy escaped from the garden today and caused great worry for an hour or so. She eventually emerged, black to the knees, from a drainage ditch through a gap in the fence we didn't know we had.

Very glad to see her back and we went straight to the beach for a wash in the sea! (after nailing shut the fence).

We had the whole of Newton Links to ourselves which was bliss.

grown up

1st March11, Embleton Bay, 8am

A frosty morning which means clear skies and now that it's March the chill didn't last for long and it soon warmed up.

Looking North across Embleton Bay. Where could be finer on such a morning as this?

Daisy was a having a great time up and down the castle mount.

The former castle mere - now just a flooded field, but it reflects the sky nicely.

On the way back we met some pals. Here's Prince - formerly bouncy lurcher now a sensible grown up. There is hope for Daisy!
