A beautiful morning for a run.  When I got up to the Alnmouth cross it was just too beautiful to rush back again... 

I’m meant to be on my way 
But I was delayed 

You see the sun was just up 
And the sea was shining 
Curlews were calling from the sand 
(And I haven’t heard them all summer) 
House martins and swallows 
Young and old 
Swooped over my head 
And linnets sang 

The only sounds were nature 
Wind, sea, birdsong. 

I’m meant to be on my way 
But I was delayed

At the other end of the day, it was still quiet and beautiful but a bit warm for running around.

 

unseasonal colours

An evening wander down to the sea to see what there was to see. 

 A beautiful empty low-tide beach was the answer. Better to sit and contemplate than for photographs but as I wandered back I saw the evening light shining through this fern. 

In previous heatwaves I've noticed unseasonable autumn colours and even falling leaves from stressed trees. This fern was obviously struggling a bit in the heat while it's neighbours still carried their summer green.

Touring on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne
