disputes

27th October 2022, Newton, 9am

Reflecting on the subtle gold & grey
That welcomes this morning
My viewpoint is timeless
Where the only anger and conflict
Is between squabbling seabirds
Down on the shore
Disputing a worm.

On the road home

the colours of the west

 26th October 2022, Plankey Mill, 3pm

A trip way out west for autumn colours.  Not disappointed!

curvy

25th October 2022, Buston, 8am

I wasn't planning a theme of 'curves' but not these photos definitely feature curves in their composition.

No curves here.  Half sky, half beach

A difference of opinion here...

exploring by the sea

 24th October 2022, Howick, 8am

For a while

after sunrise today

the colours lingered on

As I wandered, they faded

to blue skies and bright water

 The sun’s shadows breathing life

into accidental patterns on the sand

Looking into the mouth of rumbling kern.
You wouldn't want to be standing here at high tide!

Autumn colours are coming along nicely now. I walked past this tree once without seeing a photograph. Then, on my way back, I went past again and spotted the colours shining brightly in the low sun.

repeat visits

 20th October 2022, Shilbottle, 12 noon

Down the old mine railway through autumn mists and fruits!

20th October 2022, Warkworth, 9am

Jumping for joy

20th October 2022, Shilbottle, 2 pm

Back to the mine railway.  So beautiful just now I keep coming back.

Another path that invites you to go for a wander...

Two beaches in a day

18th October 2022, Bamburgh, 10am

When I'm leading my Tuesday guided walks round Bamburgh, I often see tourists photographing the iconic red phone box and the wonderful Bamburgh Castle. So I thought I'd have a go myself.

It's quite an anachronistic view; the phone box (a K6) being from 1930's or thereabouts and the keep being from 1164.

The Bamburgh kiosk is now looked after by the local community.

18th October 2022, Warkworth, 4pm

The second beach of the day.  A good day.

plenty of air

 16th October 22, Simonside, 7:30am

A quick walk up Simonside with the sun rising behind us.

The wind on the summit ridge was invigorating - Not sure the dogs agreed!

from sunrise to warmth

 14th October 2022, Warkworth, 8am

I ran along from the chilly sunrise to a warmer spot.

Plus One

 13th October 2022, Buston, 9am

A beautiful sunny morning that started with frozen windscreen and ended with all the warm clothes stowed in the rucksack...

Lettie joined us today.  A walk with us is like boot camp for her.

All peaceful reflections on the north side of the river...

...while Henry had a moment of zoom madness on the south side.

rumbled

 11th October 2022, Howick, 8am

There was no rumbling at Rumbling Kern.

Monday, 10 October 2022

light and shade

 10th October 2022, Buston, 4pm

Not much beach due to a very high tide.

The grass and ferns were bright in the afternoon sun while what remained of the beach skulked in the shadows below.

 8th October 2022, Longhorsley, 7am

Waiting for sunrise...

8th October 2022, Warkworth, 9am

Beautiful waves

not so damp

 7th October 2022, Howick, 8am

It was raining and forecast to rain all morning but actually it was a very pleasant run...
