uniqueness

 30th September 2022, Warkworth, 7am

Just in time for the sun to come up behind a thin band of cloud.

Every sunrise is unique when you see the details.

orange snake

 27th September 2022, Bamburgh, 10am

I saw these school kids last week as their orange jackets snaked up the path for a day at Bamburgh castle. I missed the shot then but this morning they came back!

autumn arrives

 26th September 2022, Warkworth, 9am

All the showers stayed out over the sea but there was a definite autumn feel to the day.

26th September 2022, Alnmouth, 4pm

It was a very high tide.

The yacht that has been stranded on the beach since the last spring tide was bobbing about on the waves but not going anywhere.

After a quick but heavy downpour I wandered up the beach watching the weather disappear off to the south.

Eventually I had to force my feet to leave the beach behind for the birds to gather and roost for the evening.

always worth it

 22nd September 2022, Alnmouth, 6:30am

Here in time for sunrise.  I sat in the back of the car and watched the sunrise.

I had everything I needed; a comfy seat, a fine view and a coffee.

The sun rose and shone brightly then disappeared into the clouds.

Then the sound of rain on the roof mingles with the rolling of the sea and the cries of the morning gulls.

After a few minutes the sun broke through again briefly but in shades of orange instead of pink.

I don't mind that it wasn't a spectacular display.  Every sunrise is worth watching.

running hounds

 18th September 2022, Howick, 8am

Not as colourful as yesterday but always a beautiful coastline at Howick.

It's one of my favourite runs and today the dogs came too...

inland sunrise

 17th September 2022, Simonside, 6:30am

Up here nice and early in time to head up Simonside as the sun rose behind us.

17th September 2022, Warkworth, 3pm

Down to the beach for this afternoon's more leisurely walk.

developing drama

 16th September 2022, Boulmer, 6:30am

Here in time for sunrise at 6:40am but it was grey, chilly and a bit rainy.

I set off running north and as the time passed, the drama developed nicely in the sky beside me...

weathering

 13th September 2022, Bamburgh, 10am

It was a beautiful blue day but this view wanted to be interpreted in black and white to my eye.

The boldness of the castle outline and the strong patterns of the sand lent themselves to monochrome.

I love the way nature has taken the carvings of this old gravestone and weathered them into wondrous shapes.  Shame for the memory of the person buried here though.

blue again

 12th September 2022, Alnmouth, 4pm

After a few chillier, damp days, it was a beautifully warm blue-sky day this afternoon.
