3 amigos

31st August 2019, Alnmouth, 8am

Just me and 3 of the dogs today.

The sun is hanging below the horizon for longer now as we come into September so the light was warm and golden across the sand.

Daisy is still the best poser but the spaniels do OK for beginners!

crossing over

27th August, Alnmouth, 8am

I've always heard that it's possible to walk across the Aln estuary but I've never seen it look remotely like an attractive idea!

Today was different though and it was very easy to wade from the north beach to the south without the water going above the thigh.

Well, that's something ticked off the list!

swimmer's view

25th August 2019, Druridge Bay, 7pm

Beautiful evening light and we went for a swim.  From the level of the swimmer's view the sea and sky were beautifully different.

Early Treat

24th August 2019, Holy Island, 5:54am

An early treat of sunrise on Holy Island shared with a very special person.

birthday treat

23rd August 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

Back to my favourite beach for a birthday walk.

sunrise is back...

21st August 2019, Hauxley, 3pm

Unusual quartz patterns in this sandstone...

21st August 2019, Alnmouth, 5:45am

So this is my new local beach just 10 minutes from bed to beach!

This was my first night in the new house and this was my first time up for sunrise for a while.

favourite places

20th August 2019, Budle Bay, 4pm

Couldn't resist a trip back to another favourite place.

It was still raining when we walked down to the beach and the rain was battering into the sea with a hiss.

Soon the sun came out as anticipated and the rain went out over the sea leaving a rainbow in its wake.

The warm sun soon dried our wet backs.

20th August 2019, Howick shore, 8am

Back to one of my favourite places with just the birds (and Daisy) for company and plenty of time on my hands...

everything changes

18th August 2019, Alnmouth, 7am

Our new local beach is Alnmouth. Same sun, same sea but a very different atmosphere here.

7am on a Sunday morning and the noise of a beach party sound system booms across the bay from the South beach.  There are loads of people around but no-one else seems to care.

Just me then.

13th August 2019, Budle Bay, 7am

A last walk on this beach from my rented house in Belford.  Today I'm moving to Shilbottle and I'll miss this beautiful beach.  I think Daisy will too.

12th August 2019, Dunstanburgh, 8am

A bit of flooding on the golf course but still a rare treat to be back on one of my favourite and used-to-be-frequent walks.

9th August 2019, Bamburgh, 8pm

A quick walk in interesting light between the thunderstorms.

taking a dip

8th August 2019, Budle Bay, 4pm

Low tide brings acres of sand and plenty of room to spread out across the sand.

It was so warm I popped in for a swim and daisy came too.

back where we belong

7th August 2019, Alnmouth, 8am

So good to be back on the beach with someone you love...

...even if her tan puts me to shame...

Tuesday, 6 August 2019

getting high

6th July 2019, Budle Bay, 6am

Daisy and I were both on a natural high this morning

We've had a week of beach walks in gorgeous weather.

5th August 2019, Budle Bay, 7am

A beautiful morning spent in part chatting to Lucy who was on a beach in Portugal.

fun and games in paradise

3rd August 2019, Alnmouth, 6am

An early start but some top fun and games...

3rd August 2019, Budle Bay, 5pm

An amazing late afternoon walk.  I kicked off my sandals as the sea water was like a jacuzzi - soft on my feet and legs.  It like paradise walking along through the soft warm water with a warm sun and a cool breeze.

Terrible sock tan!
