weeds?

26th June, 2019, Belford, 11am

My garden has many weeds, or wildflowers depending on your perspective...

26th June 2019, Budle bay, 5pm

A gorgeous walk and for the first time in a while I got my shoes off to dip my feet in the freezing cold sea!

Daisy and daisies

24th June 2019, Alnmouth, 8am

After a wet night it was very grey but Daisy and daisies brightened up the morning.

solstice clouds

21st June 2019, Longhorsley, midnight

Midnight and midsummer

It was a beautiful night and the northern sky was lit up by noctilucent clouds.  Also known as 'night-shining" clouds they are made of high altitude ice crystals which reflect the last of the twilight.

23rd June, 2019, Longhorsley, 8pm

An evening walk with the spaniels Henry and Hattie.

wind tales

21st June 2019, Budle Bay, 7am

A gorgeous sunny morning but as usual a cool breeze to keep things nice and cool...

21st June 2019, Holy Island, 11am

A quick cycle across the causeway.  Wind assisted all the way to the village and straight in my face all the way back!

Lowry in Bamburgh

18th June 2019, Bamburgh, 12 noon

The beach was busy and the scene was not unlike a Lowry painting.

This little bench has a grand view from it's lofty perch

home again

17th June 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

Coming back to this beach is like being home.

On a morning like this with changing, dramatic clouds and sunny patches sweeping along the beach it was a glorious place to be for a couple of hours.

after the rain

14th June 2019, Budle Bay, 7am

After a few days of cold rain it was nice to be back out and dry

Sometimes it takes a while to ‘find’ the photograph in the landscape. Sometimes you need to slow right down and give yourself time to absorb the atmosphere of that day. The wind, the temperature, the light. How does the day feel? Sometimes it needs a different angle to see the photograph. This morning I was lying flat on the sand with my eyes shut listening to the noise of the sea. When I opened my eyes the high summer clouds had formed into a swirl of pattern that lasted just a few moments...

Daisy came to see what the fuss was about...

stamping ground

11th June 2019, Newton Point, 4pm

Since moving house I'm further away from my old stamping grounds but not so far that I can't come back from time to time.

The flower meadow on Newton Point is having a good year.

funny waves

7th June 2019, Budle Bay, 6:30am

Down past the wildflowers again and onto the beach.

Daisy had a good run about and then she lay down and I sat and we both watched the world go by for a while.

At the mouth of Budle Bay there were waves coming in from the East but also waves coming in at right angles from the North.  They crashed and twisted around each other petulantly where they met making a band of turbulent white water with calm water to the east and west.

Farnes 2019

5th June 2019, Farne islands, 2pm

I come out to the Farnes at least once a year and they never disappoint.

These well travelled fish boxes were on the pier at Seahouses.

A bridled guillemot (2nd from right)  in among the others here...

new ground

4th June 2019, Budle Bay, 6:30am

With a whole new coast to explore i keep coming back to this wee perch high above Budle Bay with fine view over to Holy Island

The wildflower meadow we pass on the way to the beach

3rd June 2019, Ross Sands, 4pm

A remote and wonderful beach but so much wildlife it's not a place for Daisy to run freely.

She was happy just chilling on the sand watching the seals out in the water.

Almost a great picture!
