27th April 2017, Holy Island, 9am
A really nice morning walking round Holy Island with Jackie and Deborah today on their PhotoTrail.
Here are a few photos from the day. The sky was a bit grey and flat so doesn't feature very very often...

moments...
26th April 2017, Embleton Bay, 8am
The rain radar showed today's showers were going to pass down the coast - i.e. between me and the sunrise - so I thought it might be quite spectacular.
As I walked past the skaith the light was beautiful for a few moments...

poetry required
23rd April 2017, Newton Point, 7am
A lovely morning requiring a haiku...
Sunny silhouette
Here is a place to relax
Worth an early rise
24th April 2017, Newton Point, 7am
Today is a transition between our recent dry sunny spell to the return of chilly showers and the sky is dramatically undecided. Nice to hear lots of warblers in full song this morning including a grasshopper warbler. Lots of swallows and sand martins flitting around too.
24th April 2017, Newton Point, 4pm
The weather remains chilly but dramatic. We managed to avoid the showers...

daylight
20th April 2017, Embleton Bay 10am
A bright, warm day for today's PhotoWalk with Ian and Emily. It's a very different discipline to photograph when the sun is high and the light is flat. In the early morning the 'golden hour' sunlight is a subject in itself. During the day you need to see a subject in a different way.

a rare starfish
18th April 2017, Embleton Bay, 10am
A really interesting PhotoWalk in good company this morning.
18th April 2017, Christon Bank, 1pm
A quick walk through the springtime woods.
18th April 2017, Beadnell Bay, 7pm
I could count on one hand the number of starfish we've found over the 9 years we've lived here. This one was very dead and way up at the strand line. He was only 2 inches across. His colour and texture are so like the sand that he's only defined by his outline.

A few of the things I found to photograph today.
Daisy was in the mood to pose for a photo or 2...

unwilling
15th April 2017, Easter Saturday, Beadnell Bay, 7am
The sun is shining for Easter Saturday and I expect this beach will get very busy later on. Right now we've got it to ourselves.
15th April 2017, Newton Point, 5pm
We waited until it had gone quiet again and sat on Football Hole out of the fierce wind but in the sun.
Daisy doesn't like having her photo taken. If you don't believe me look at this sequence. Eventually I sneaked up from behind...

thoughts on photography from on high
13th April 2017, Embleton Bay, 8am
Watching the world go by...
I'm sitting back home reading an article with quotes from photographers about photography. It's very inspiring.
I think this one goes well with this morning's photograph and sums up what photography means to me.
"I believe photography – like many other things one does in life – is the exact expression of who you are at a given moment. Every time you compose and release the shutter, you give voice to your thoughts and opinions of the world around you." Paolo Pellegrin

lying cameras?
12th April 2017, Football Hole, 4pm
Rambling along the beach...
12th April 2017, Bamburgh Beach, 10am
Today's PhotoWalk with a very nice couple. It was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours in their company talking photography.
The day started cloudy and grey.
But though the sun came out and the beach got busier it was still very cold.
These photos show that choosing the moment to press the shutter can yield very different results (no PhotoShop involved)
We managed to circumnavigate the castle and photograph it from each side in the changing weather.
