basking in the sun

30th Sept11, Embleton Bay, 9am

Nice to see Sue today for her 2nd visit with me.

First off, a more cooperative ladybird basking in the sun.

There was a pleasingly cool breeze on the beach and lots of folk were out and about

I'm off on holiday for a week after this weekend and it's been great to have been here for the good weather.

meanwhile in the woods...

30th Sept11, Christon Bank, 7am

Last training course of the week so up early again for another lovely dawn. Possibly the last day of the heatwave for our corner of England.

Meanwhile in the woods this ladybird was in a hurry...

...and we're reminded that this is autumn, not summer.

Enough conkers to keep spiders out the house for the winter

not a bad wee lens...

29th Sept11, Newton Links, 6pm

What a beautiful evening. So warm (20 degC at 6pm at end of September - unheard of!) Summer temperatures but equinox sunset times.

All these shots are on the iPhone

Big spring tides just now right up to the path through the rocks...

Someone's been busy these last few days making stone towers. Lovely in the golden light.

Indian Summer

28th Sept11, Christon Bank, 7am

Another early walk and another beautiful sunrise. This 'Indian Summer' is amazing. We're having the warmest days of the summer...

28th Sept11, Embleton Bay, 8am

Daphne, Susan and Barbara joined me this morning for a training course and we had a beautifully sunny morning...

29th Sept11, Newton Links, 8am

Back to normal routine today and Daisy was able to run around to her heart's content leaving paw prints as she went.

colour or black & white

27th Sept11, Christon Bank, 7am

An early walk with Daisy before a training course this morning meant that we witnessed a lovely sunrise over the fields.

This is a shot that needed to be rendered in colour...

27th Sept11, Embleton Bay, 8am

By the time of Robert's training course at 8am, the colour was gone from the sky leaving beautiful grey clouds which invited a black and white treatment.

run in the sun

21st Sept11, Newton Links, 6pm

Daisy had been denied her walk until this evening so was fired up & ready to go when we got onto the big empty beach.

The latest in my series of abstract images of the coast and dunes.

last, not least

19th Sept11, Embleton Bay, 8am

Lovely day for a training course this morning. It's interesting how much easier photography is without a distracting (if much loved) doggy zipping about.

Everything on today's post has been photographed by me before except this last one. It's my favourite of the day - possibly because it's a bit different.

It's a detail from an old boat (in case you're wondering)

19th Sept11, Newton Point, 3pm

Aforementioned much loved puppy could see a dog 1 mile away on the beach

A bit inland today to join some friends in the middle of walking the whole wall for charity.

Another showery day but beautiful light all around.

His n Hers

15th Sept11, Embleton Bay, 1pm

A nice afternoon for Fred's training course. We didn't need to venture far to get a few different shots of the day...

The autumn colours are starting to appear in the bracken on the dunes

Lots of couples with dogs today...

down the allotments

15th Sept11, Alnwick 8am

A bit different this morning as I wandered around allotments in Alnwick for various reasons...

It was a perfect, calm morning with gentle light.

family long legs

14th Sept11, Newton Links, 6pm

Nice light for a family portrait...

North across the south end of Beadnell bay. I seem to be here every day nowadays - I must shake things up a bit...

Daisy had plenty of running around on the two beaches and around the rabbit warren inbetween
