dated

 30th Sep 24, Embleton Bay, 9am

In a couple of weeks I'm presenting a talk on the WW2 defences that remain on Embleton Bay.

I wandered up to the anti-tank blocks today in case anything new had been uncovered by recent high tides.

There was nothing new but I love this date of "4th Aug 1940" written by a finger in the wet cement 84 years ago.

Silver and Blue

 28th September 24, Warkworth, 9am

After a showery day of strong gales, all was quiet today although the sea was still full of waves.

mist and sunrise

 18th September 24, Shilbottle, 7am

A misty sunrise in the village.

Soon I walked up the hill out of the mist to find a cloud inversion.

Back down at the bottom of the hill and there was this amazing display made of trees mist and sunlight.

Back down the hill and back down into the mist for a stunning moment made from mist, trees and sunlight.

early bird

 17th September 24, Craster, 9am

I recommend an early start for a visit to Craster.  I was leading a group of walkers but I arrived in time to soak up the atmosphere of a calm, early morning by the sea.

By the time I was back in the village a couple of hours later it was packed with visitors and the atmosphere of the morning was long gone.

promises...

14th September 24, Alnwick and Boulmer

It's the McMillan Mighty Hike today so I dropped Lucy off by Alnwick Castle then headed to Boulmer with the dogs.

It's a promising start to the day...

wind and wavelets

 10th September 24, Buston, 3pm

An early finish at work due to the high winds gave an opportunity for a rare, relaxing wander with my camera.  It was good to return to some favourite themes of figures, waves and simple compositions.

The brisk westerly wind had calmed the sea right down so these waves were only a couple of feet high

see what you see

 7th September 24, Rothbury, 8am

Another misty day but this time I headed into the mist to see what I could see.

Under the mist it felt very autumn but it was warm enough to still be summer.

lucky guess

 6th September 24, Warkworth, 7:30am

After an early run to the airport, I was up nice and early for a change

It was misty everywhere but I took a gamble that the mist might burn off at the sea first.

Lucky guess!
