toss-up

 29th June 24, Simonside, 8am

It was a toss up between the beach and the hills but the hills won this morning.

Springtime growth showed the very conspicuous unnatural planting in the conifers.

brightly breezy

 28th June 24, Buston, 8am

The pools of the salt marsh fill up at high tide.

Then my path led down to the beach

and a convenient driftwood seat - albeit a windy spot

before climbing back up to the shelter of the dunes.

mist rising

 26th June 24, Bamburgh Castle, 12:30

Today started with dense fog which eventually lifted into a clear blue sky day.

In between times, the last wisps of mist clung here and there but revealed beautiful high clouds.

brightness

23rd June 24, Warkworth, 9am

Back to bright skies and bright flowers.

What a beautiful time of year this is hereabouts.

appetising

 18th June 24, Embleton Bay, 6pm

Nice day and a nice spot for a run up and down the coast.

I rested at the halfway point under a soundscape of wind and waves and birdsong.

not sneezing

 15th June 24, Buston, 8am

A lot of pollen on the grasses but it doesn't affect me when I'm running (only when I get back home)

14th June 24, Bamburgh, 9am

Pyramidal orchid with ant.

all quiet

 13th June 24, Buston, 8am

A blissfully quiet morning with time for a coffee in the sunny dunes

Tuesday, 11 June 2024

twists and turns

 11th June 24, Bamburgh, 9am

A sunny wander before work

10th June 24, Alnwick, 5pm

A run with a few nettle stings but those sinuous woodland paths make it worthwhile.

favourites

 9th June 24, Simonside, 10am

Great walk on my favourite wee hill

the borrowers

 3-5 June 24, Alnmouth

An amazing week in a borrowed beach house for a special birthday.

3rd June 24, Alnmouth, 11pm

 3rd June 24, Newton Point, 11am

Back to the wild flowers...

Sunday, 2 June 2024

peak season

 2nd June 24, Newton Point, 8am

Peak wildflower season on Newton Point.  Never disappoints.

Saturday, 1 June 2024

time to lie

 1st June 24, Felton, 8am

As far as I can tell this is a willow emerald damselfly.

1st June 24, Buston, 5pm

Blissful solitude and peace.  Time to write some words and lie among the daisies with my camera.

cotton tales

 31st May 24, Simonside, 4pm

A beautiful run/walk up and over Simonside on a sunny but hazy day.

It's the season of cotton grass and it danced in the summer breeze.

Dolly thoughts

 29th May 24, Bamburgh Castle

Wildflowers (birds foot trefoil) on the ramparts of Bamburgh Castle.

As Dolly Parton once sang, "Wild Flowers Don't Care Where They Grow"
