damaged and ancient

 30th November 2021, Bamburgh, 10am

A pleasant guided walk round the coast at Bamburgh.  The coast's ancient geological structures are unchanged by a mere storm.

Lots of post-Arwen damage in the village though.  The grove trees have been battered and the castle itself has many broken windows.

freezing nicely

 29th November 2021, Longhorsley, 8am

A dusting of snow which then froze.  A very beautiful winter morning.

After Arwen

 28th November 2021, Alnmouth, 4pm

After the crazy winds of Storm Arwen on Friday night, we're getting back to normal now.  We're lucky to have electricity.  Many in the village still have no power after 48 hours.

Meanwhile the afternoon light was beautiful...

...but wintry showers were chasing us down the beach.

nearly stormy

 26th November 2021, Howick, 7:30am

Stormy weather fortunately kept itself out over the sea.

When the sunrise happened it lit up the falling rain with award light.

Time for breakfast said Daisy

waiting and watching

 24th November 2021, Warkworth, 7am

Watching the sky until the sun appeared.

Tuesday, 23 November 2021

no sunrise

 23rd November 2021, Alnmouth, 7:30am

Sunrise lit up the sky and reflected on the beach but the actual sun was hidden by a bank of thick cloud.

sunshine and showers

 21st November 2021, Warkworth, 8:30am

Nothing like a bit of "sunshine and showers" for interesting light.

Worth getting a bit wet for.

At least the wind was up our tails as we headed back down the beach...

autumn falls

 19th November 2021, Rothbury, 9am

Beautiful autumn colours.

saying farewell

 17th November 2021, Hauxley, 4pm

Saying goodbye to an old friend of the family.

Sail away my friend and may the waves carry you safely to the next adventure.

two ways of thinking

 16th November 2021, Dunstanburgh, 7:30am

Light is everything in photography.

You can sit in one place and watch the light change or you can seek out the light.

The two similar views of Dunstanburgh Castle are an hour apart from just before and a bit after sunrise.

I prefer to keep moving (so does Daisy) so between these castle photographs I wandered up and round to the Craster side of the castle to watch the sun coming out of the sea.

Two different approaches to photography.

places familiar

15th November 2021, Boulmer to Howick, 12 noon

Back to familiar shores from a few days away.

15th November 2021, Warkworth, 4pm

There wasn't much of the sunset visible from the beach but it was beautiful from the path home...
