changeable north and south

29th October 2019, Bamburgh, 8am

 A showery morning.

To the North were blue skies over Holy Island

To the south a shower was blowing in over Bamburgh

Soon enough it was blue skies all round

the icy morning cometh

28th October 2019, Longhorsley, 7am

Finally a frost to freeze the muddy paths...

Two roe deer bounced across our paths and Daisy and me stood and watched them go by.

coaly beach

27th October 2019, Hauxley, 9am

Hauxley beach had a lot of coal dust on the sand this morning with dendritic patterns drawn by the tide.

river and sea

25th October 2019, Alnmouth, 7:30am

A bright orange promise of sunrise but by the time the sun was due, we saw nothing and the day slowly turned to grey and blue.

The birds had gathered to feed at low tide The river Aln enters the sea here but in a slightly different place every day.

can walk, won't walk

24th October 2019, Shilbottle, 4pm

The fields around my new home in Shilbottle are beautiful with wide field boundaries generously maintained by the farmer for walkers (and horses).  Every field has wide countryside views over to the sea and Coquet Island.

Daisy likes walking round here despite always being on the lead, but today she sat down and would go no further (until cajoled!)

23rd October 2019, Longhorsley, 8am

An inland sunrise for a change.

seeking quiet

22nd October 2019, Alnmouth, 7:45am

Quite a crowd on the beach for sunrise and it was very beautiful.

I tried to find a bit of peace and quiet away from the throng but soon enough the sun rose and they all dispersed.

Just off to the side of sunrise was a gentle light over Coquet island.

rarity value

21st October 2019, Warkworth/Amble, 4pm

A gorgeous afternoon.  Seeing the sun is a rare thing this month...

21st October 2019, Embleton Bay, 10am

A PhotoWalk on a grey day.

Someone has made a driftwood dragon.

Up around the wintery beach huts I spied a ghostly Dunstanburgh Castle reflected in the striped curtained window.

A rare self portrait...

just in time

16th October 2019, Alnmouth 7:30am

Here in time for a beautiful sky just before sunrise.

first ice

3rd October 2019, Alnmouth, 7am

A beautiful autumn morning.  The first time the windscreen had to be cleared of ice.

Down on the beach the light was golden over the waves.
