running

25th May 2016, Dunstanburgh, 7:30am

Back in March I started a "couch to 5K" running training regime and I reached 5K in 8 weeks.  I've managed to keep the running going, sometimes with Daisy sometimes on my own (much easier on my own but more fun with Daisy!).

Run England set up a 5K route from Dustan Steads around the Castle which includes a couple of small hills and it's been my target to run it non-stop and under 30 minutes.

Today was the day :o)

25th May 2016, Newton Point, 4pm

A dull, misty, grey day but the wild flowers are like a splash of sunshine.

Sunny PhotoWalk

24th May 2016, Embleton Bay, 10am

A bright sunny day for today's PhotoWalk.  It was a very pleasant couple of hours talking photography in the sun...

Terns

22nd May 2016, Beadnell Bay, 6am

That moment when you first see the beach waiting for you...

We wandered up a deserted Beadnell Bay (it was 6am) to the edge of the tern site. Securely on her lead, Daisy sat ears twitching as if hypnotised by the swirling, squawking terns shining in the sun.

It's great to have this on our doorstep - Good Luck for the nesting season to the National Trust team.

Soft light

21st May 2016, Skaith, 7am

Soft light in the sky after a night of rain.

I've maybe overdone the HDR on these two but it's fun now and again... :o)

21st May 2016, Dunstanburgh Castle shore, 5pm

We sat out of the wind but in the sun (the perfect seat!) watching the kittiwakes fly to and fro. Daisy, less interested, goes off to do her own thing...she enjoys the wind in her fur.

a trick of the light

18th May 2016, Low Newton, 6am

Finally a bit of rain but it was very refreshing.

This peaceful scene hides the reality:  Daisy is standing in the sea to stop me reaching her wit the lead because it's time to go home for breakfast...

19th May 2016, nr Christon Bank, 9am

There is beauty everywhere, even in the humble Dandelion head.

17th May 2016, Low Newton, 6am

The rain is not here yet so we can still enjoy the shadows...

back to the bluebells

16th May 2016, Low Newton, 6am

Back to the bluebells - it really is a lovely year for bluebells and backlit against the sun they really sparkle in the morning...

waves

15th May 2016, Dunstanburgh, 7am

As we walked up to the castle the wind was quiet but the sea was roaring with beautiful backlit waves.

There is a brief moment of colour - a flash of green wavelight - before each waves crashes into foam. That is the moment I like to capture.

late low tide

14th May 2016, Embleton Bay, 6pm

A late walk after the crowds had gone a bit.

There was not a cloud in the sky and a beautiful low tide beach.

One of my favourite views from up the path and off the path.

First Dog on The Beach

10th May 2016, Embleton Bay, 7am

Daisy was the first dog on the beach.  The only other tracks were from a jogger who had tried to run along the beach's soft sand at high tide - rather him than me!

Behind the dunes the bluebells are out and they look beautiful.  In among them are pink bluebells and this one mutant bluebell.
