When you're first on the beach the birds are still peacefully feeding on the skaith. Most of these
were redshanks judging by the sound they made as they moved off to the other side of the water when we passed by.
5th January 2016, Howick Shore, 11am
A mid-morning run along the easy paths at Howick that occasionally deteriorate to more interesting slippy mud. At only 1 degC it was an invigorating run but you soon warm up. I had the heating on full blast on the way there and the window wound down on the way home.
5th January 2016, Newton Point, 3pm
Late afternoon winter light is as beautiful as it is ephemeral.
No sign of the cows tonight but they've been rubbing against this fencepost and have brought up the grain beautifully
As we headed home the post-sunset sky was gorgeous...
