Sunday 26 April 2015

nice and icy

25th April 2015, Newton Point, 4pm

Nothing to do this evening so we could take our time.  Not many folk about due to the rain we've had all day - just a few locals for a chat.

Daisy and Su just chillin'

The panorama function on the iPhone is amazing technology but it's not easy to present the results.

26th April 2015, Beadnell Bay, 6am

Ice on the windscreen this morning and the frost warning on the dashboard. Back to winter gear for this morning's sunny walk.

smells of spring

22nd April 2015, Newton Point, 5pm

Gorse. One of my favourite things about this time of year. Looks bonny, smells fantastic.

23rd April 2015, Low Newton, 6am

Gentle morning light.

24th April 2015, Christon Bank, 6am

The fog has rolled in. A very atmospheric walk around the woods this morning.

The symmetry here is from the pond although the surface is invisible.

time to chill?

20th April 2015, Dunstanburgh Castle shore, 4pm

Another sunny evening but further down the coast. We sat in the sun and listened to the Kittiwakes until Daisy got bored and started mithering.

A similar shot to yesterday's from a different location.

Sunday 19 April 2015

let the wind blow

19th April 2015, Beadnell Bay, 4pm

Bright and breezy afternoon. We should never stop appreciating what we see.

I was lining up this nice shot when Daisy popped up to see what was going on...

I like this one.  I've been trying to get a shot like this for many years; to capture a 'Namibian desert' type view on the Northumbrian dunes.

19th April 2015, Christon Bank, 8am

Dull and cloudy this morning. Without the bright sun of yesterday, the chilly breeze dominates the weather and it feels decidedly brisk this morning. We headed to the woods for some shelter...

Two things caught my eye - the vivid colours of the emerging leaves (chestnut here) and the delicate patterns and forms around the pond.

Saturday 18 April 2015

blue skies at last

18th April 2015, Embleton Bay, 7am

A beautiful, sunny Saturday morning.

17th April 2015, Howick shore, 4pm

What a cracking afternoon below cloudless blue skies. So warm Daisy needed to call off in Howick burn.

giant hound

16th April 2015, Football Hole, 6pm

On the sunny beach, under dark but harmless skies, I lay on the sand.

Daisy came to see why.

Su came to rescue me from a curious, sandy, giant hound.

Sunday 12 April 2015

grey to black

12th April 2015, Craster, 9am-1pm

Alison's PhotoTrail started colourful in the grey and ended monochrome in the rain.

stay in bed?

9th April 2015, Low Newton, 6:30am

Sunrise coincides with my pre-work walk.

I could have stayed in bed and let Su walk Daisy - glad I didn't

Interesting to see how the light changes from red to orange as the sun rises from the horizon over 20 minutes.

11th April 2015, Beadnell Bay, 7:30am

Monday 6 April 2015

twas ever thus

6th April 2015, Christon Bank, 6:30am

The sea fret has come in on the coast this morning after a sunny day yesterday.

'Twas ever thus.

Shadowy shapes and reflections never normally seen.
