gentle light

30th Jan 2019, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

This is the gentle light that greets me this morning...

It was -2 degC on the beach so we kept moving to stay warm.

The seaweed was frozen on the beach and the leaves were frozen in the dunes.

late sun

29th Jan 2019, Newton Point, 4pm

After a morning off uninspiring clouds, the sun put in a very late appearance.

We were the only ones on the beach as others were pout off by the weather.

the morning after...

28th Jan 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

A grim day yesterday - no photos!

Today was much nicer.

Another morning
Where the grey gave way to blue.

Stormy seas still rage
After a passionate Sunday

But today is
The morning after the night before

And the beach is peaceful now
In a more reflective mood

28th January 2019, inland, 4pm

I love these trees and have photographed them many times at winter sunset. They are very shapely old ash trees part of an old hedge. Very common practice at one time in Northumberland.

zooming in

26th Jan 2019, Beadnell Bay, 8am

Sunrise this morning was discrete; just sitting quietly in one corner of the sky. The zoom lens helped to fill the frame with colour.

26th Jan 2019, Newton Point  4pm

I have sat here many times, my moods ebbing and flowing like the sea that surrounds me on 3 sides.

Perhaps you also have a special place that is meaningful to you.

A place that you will return to forever in memories once the day comes that you can no longer return.

Today I am in the happiest mood I have ever been while sitting here. Which is nice.

blinking sun

25th Jan 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

For a few short minutes
      As the sun rose
           Blinking through the clouds
                 Everything was golden
                      Then the the colour faded
And only the horizon was bright.

Watching the dog watching the sunrise

afternoon to sunset

23rd Jan 2019, Newton by the Sea, 2pm

A nice long walk from afternoon to sunset on a bright, calm, frosty, winter day

Medieval rigg and furrow fieldworks looking very clear in the low sun

lightwaves

22nd Jan 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

Before dawn it was all about the light...

Daisy conveniently posed with a crow.

after sunrise the warm colours faded but the bright, low sun lit the waves beautifully.

Back home we were greeted by a pair of bullfinches who often hang out in the front garden.

bored? not likely

21st Jan 2019, Embleton Bay, 8am

A few more from yet another winter sunrise.

Apologies if my posts are repetitive.

To me, every sunrise is unique and every day we get to be alive on this planet is worth celebrating.

I never get bored of this...

It's a new day.

Which way will you go?

Same view different composition...

It looks like the sea is still very rough out at the horizon.
