perfect solitude

16th July 2019, Budle Bay, 6am

Curlews are calling from the sand.
Yellowhammers are calling from the gorse.
Passing terns creak their way over the still waters of Budle Bay.
No one else here, not even a footprint disturbs the peaceful solitude.

Pilgrim Hounds

14th July 2019, Holy Island, 7am

The causeway closed at noon so not many people were about today.

We wandered onto St Cuthbert's Islet and around the beach to the harbour.  The clouds and the morning light were beautiful.

I cast this stone upon the beach
Among a million others
And here on Holy Island's shore
We'll be forever lovers

Adventures of Henry

13th July 2019, Longhorsley, 7am

Little Henry does like to get about the place at full speed whenever possible...

13th July 2019, Budle Bay, 4pm

We were joined by Daisy's sister Bessie and wee Henry wasn't putting up with any nonsense from the big lurchers.  He can easily get the ball first cos he can swim out deeper than they can wade (and they don't do swimming - "not my scene, man!)

summer things

7th July 2019, Alnmouth, 11am

Who doesn't like a poppy?

11th July 2019, Budle Bay, 5pm

A beautiful late afternoon.  Warm and bright.

same view

5th July 2019, Budle Bay, 6am

High tide waves breaking
Under a watery sun
Silver light on sea

The old gun emplacement frames the most beautiful view. The men who were here in WW2 must have appreciated it too.

on reflection

3rd July 2019, Budle Bay, 6:30am

I love wet reflective sand and when you add in long morning shadows it just gets better...

transported

1st July 2019, Holy Island, 9pm

Coming up for sunset on Holy Island causeway.  While I'm living in Belford this is only 15 minutes from home and I'm making the most of it.

There was no-one else here,  just me and the dog and a beautiful night.

There were oyster catchers piping
And the curlew's mournful cry
To this day they still transport me
Underneath and evening sky

family outing

30th June 2019, Alnmouth, 8am

Lovely and sunny walk along Alnmouth beach with all but the oldest of the dogs.

The groynes make an interesting photograph along this beach.

in parallel

27th June 2019, Budle Bay, 6pm

After a long day driving to Glasgow and back home it was like a parallel universe being back here.

28th June 2019, Budle Bay, 7am

A lovely inscription on this bench where I sat and contemplated the view for a while...
