Misty

29th June 2017, Dunstanburgh, 3pm

It finally stopped raining and left the landscape wrapped in a blanket of mist.

sky full of birds

28th June 2017, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

A bit of a trudge along under grey skies although it was good to have a dry day.  Suddenly the sky was full of birds.

Up in the dunes I found this delicate wee flower which I couldn't identify.  It turns out to be Lesser Meadow Rue.  Very poisonous and not particularly rare.

change in the weather

27th June 2017, Christon Bank, 7:30am

A change for the worst in the weather. Here's the local pond in the rain...

27th June 2017, Newton Point, 4pm

The rain has stopped for today but it's as bleak as winter.  I had to move a pair of summer sandals out of the way to get at my woolly hat...

up early

25th June 2017, Embleton Bay, 7am

Early to bed
Early to rise
A big empty beach
Endless blue skies

25th June 2017, Newton Point, 4pm

I love to watch the sea thrift dancing with their shadows in the wind...The music is a wee tune of my own called "Not A Cloud In The Sky"

bacon and eggs?

18th June 2017, Newton Point, 11am

Bird's Foot Trefoil is also known as 'eggs and bacon' for obvious reasons.

This clump in particular caught my eye for the intensity of its colour in the bright, bright sun.

The beach was quiet enough for Daisy to get off the lead...

All blue

17th June 2017, Howick, 10:30am

All blue skies and blue seas on a fine walk from Howick to Low Newton.  29C but a cooling breeze.

wait a minute

15th June 2017, Embleton Bay, 8am

The view looked nice...

but even nicer  a few minutes later when the sun came out...

It's wild flower season and the 'Bloody Cranesbill' is in great profusion.  It's Northumberland's county flower.

Sunset Cruise to The Farnes

13th June 2017, Farne Islands, 7pm

We went out on a last minute sunset cruise this evening to the Farnes with Andrew Douglas and Serenity Boats. Plenty to see. It's nice to be spontaneous now and again and visit some of our local special places!..

Back Home

After a week away in Orkney it's taken a while to get myself sorted back into routine.

4th June 2017, Howick, 5pm

We were having fun in the sun. I generally get one chance to take a photo then she sticks her tongue out and walks right close to the camera.

5th June 2017, Beadnell Bay, 4pm

Bit grim this afternoon

7th June 2017, Newton Point, 4pm

I sat on Newton Point just now - warm in the sun with a fresh breeze on my face watching a barn owl quartering her patch while skylarks sang above and the breaking waves shone all the way to Beadnell. It's a grand place this (but ask me again tomorrow when the rain's back)

9th June 2017, Embleton Bay, 7am

It was the general election yesterday and political chaos has been unleashed. Meanwhile, back in the real world, it seems like just another day...

11th June 2017, Embleton Bay, 7:30am

A hint of how warm June can be this morning. Daisy's been in the sea. I wasn't THAT warm...

12th June 2017, Newton Point, 4pm

Never seen a hare up here before. She'll be stopping on the lead today...

It's all looking a bit Caribbean around here (apart from the brisk wind...)
