Catching up

26th Feb12, Newton Links, 7:30am

An early Sunday morning just in time to see the last colour of the dawn.

27th Feb12, Newton Links, 8am

One of those 'big empty beach' days - low tide and no other people. Daisy's much more sociable than me and she gets bored while I'm relaxed.

28th Feb12, Howick Shore, 3pm

17 degC - summer temperatures in February! A very nice walk along to Craster to say hello to folk I know at the Jolly Fisherman and Shoreline cafe and then back.

29th Feb12, Newton Links, 8am

Happy Leap Year! Cool and fresh this morning. I had a run in the woods early on now that it's light by 6:30 and then Daisy and I did our usual thing...

two kinds of flying sand

18th Feb12, Beadnell Bay, 4pm

A fierce wind whipped across the sand and we stayed in the shelter of the dunes up to the warden's hut. Helpfully there is a weather vane to confirm the wind that we felt.

21st Feb12, Newton Links, 8am

Sunny, no wind, temperature at a balmy 10 degC. I lay basking in the dunes for a while listening to the distant, gentle waves until Daisy started doing circuits around, past and over me and I was half-buried in flying sand from her paws.

...but why watch TV

16th Feb12, Newton Point, 3pm

The beach is a bit busier than normal with half-term so we choose quieter paths. The sun was shining a spotlight through the clouds onto selected parts of the landscape.

Clouds that begged for a black and white conversion. The wee building with the big aerial is an old coastguard lookout now a 'quirky' holiday house with an amazing view and the best TV reception for miles ;-)

17th Feb12, Christon Bank, 8am

All quiet in the woods with perfect reflections on the pond.

The path through the woods is an easy walk in the winter but the flowering current is already bursting into life and soon the path will be impassable and overgrown until next winter.

Sisters together again

13th Feb12, Preston, 2pm

Daisy and Bess are sisters and they get along just fine. They're well matched for speed and they had a big empty field to chase around in. Jas the collie is the boss of both of them though!

15th Feb12, Newton Links, 8am

Very interesting light on the beach this morning. Something has upset the sea and it boiled and tossed out to the horizon.

Sunday 12 February 2012

evening all

12th Feb12, Howick shore, 4pm

Daisy's new thing is the pounce. I assume she hears mice or some such in the long grass. She's never caught anything with this technique...yet!

As we wandered along the last rays of light lit up the sandstone cliffs and turned the eastern sky a beautiful rainbow of colours.

Wednesday 8 February 2012

sun sinks, sun rises

7th Feb12, Football Hole, 8am

Football Hole is a beach that you come across suddenly from whichever direction. A very calm morning meant that we came over the dunes and were greeted with the peaceful sight of seabirds quietly feeding on the low tide sands.

7th Feb12, Newton Links, 8am

I know I've talked about how the light changes many times before, but here we see the light go from daylight blue to twilight gold in an hour or so.

8th Feb12, Dunstanburgh Castle, 8am

Only at certain times of the year is this alignment visible. It's our local Maes Howe!

A fine view can always be improved...! One of my very favourite photos of Daisy for a while.

Sunday 5 February 2012

knitting

4th Feb12, Christon Bank, 8am

Saturday Sunrise

5th Feb12, Christon Bank, 7am

Sunday Sunrise behind Paddy's Mount. Freezing this morning but gorgeous walking and we ended up out and about for two hours before breakfast.

5th Feb12, Newton Point, 3pm

Suzy needed some photographs taken for her knitting and Daisy was very patient. It was lovely to spend a while photographing without any commercial pressure. Su's knitting is all inspired by the colours and textures of the Northumberland Coast so it seemed only right to photograph the scarves and bags around the dunes and beach. A walk on the beach

3rd Feb12, Embleton Bay, 8am

Today was Kim's 2nd training course with me and it was nice to be dog-free for a few hours of uninterrupted photography. We had a lovely walk on the beach visiting different locations and watching the light change. The photos will tell the story...

3rd Feb12, Howick, 4pm

The result of it starting to get dark and Daisy moving very fast. An unusual photographic abstract of a speeding hound.
