When the light's right

 13th August 2021, Low Newton, 8am

It was a grey morning with a calm sea.  It was a peaceful atmosphere with no drama.

As I walked along the path my attention was caught by this shapely fern dramatically backlit by the sun.

I snapped one shot but then the cloud rolled in and the light changed completely.

It's not a perfect composition but the sun never came back although I hung about for a while.

The backlit frond is separated from the dark background much better and, to me, it makes for a simpler and therefore more striking image.

Photography is all about the subject but interesting light makes a huge difference.
