After many days of arctic weather we had a day of torrential rain yesterday and then flash floods as the rain combined with melting snow.
So it was a joy to see light in the sky and even blue skies above the Castle.
This flooded field is on the site of an old 'mere', one of 3 shallow lakes that surrounded the Castle in mediaeval times. They were, so they say, designed to make the castle look impressive and would have had no defensive purpose.

My first run through the woods in much appreciated spring like conditions.
