wet walk

4th November10, Hepburn Woods, 9am

This is one of the finest autumns for years and the colours are beautiful. So the choice was a wet stomp along a grey beach or a wet walk amongst the seasonal splendour inland....

Hepburn woods is forestry commission but as is the modern way, where the conifers have been clear-felled, native trees have been allowed and encouraged. The planted, deciduous larch are very nice this year as well as the beech, birch, oak etc etc.

A great walk.

The darkness in the woods meant a slow shutter speed which has leant a soft, atmospheric effect to some of the images.

So beautiful. I keep scrolling up and down to see them over and over again. Lovely delicate misty colours. Words fail though....

Wonderful (British) autumn colours, Andy. On my notebook screen some of them seem to have a little too much blue tint???

Regards, Uwe.

Thanks all.

Uwe, I think the blue cast is because it was a dull, cloudy day with a cool light. It confuses the eye because of the contrast with the warm leaf colours perhaps...?

Of course you are right, Andy. The blue tint occurs because of the cool(er) colour temperature of the cloudy sky.
I knew it as soon as I sent away my comment for your post... ;-))

Uwe.
