This is the claw of maja squinado the spiny spider crab. He must have been a magnificent specimen. according to my book he was a bit off course this far north. btw, note the fast moving sand in the picture (looks like scratches on a negative) - it was like being sandblasted on the beach today!

Brilliant photo of the claw of Spiny Norman! I love the colour, texture, and detail revealed in it. Theres a sense of pathos and the fragility of life as well. The stinging sands in the background are a dramatic contrast. This is one of my favourites!
