On the old quarry beach at Howick
I stood at the cusp of winter and spring
Where the sun blinked in and out of view
With a turn of the head.
Frosty chilly in the shadows
Warm as summer in the sun.
Daffodils are having a great year...
It was all a bit much for Daisy who decided to nap in the sun.
Even in death this porpoise was a very beautiful animal. They are often seen off the Howick coast. Its skin was as smooth as rubber and was warm in the sun. The body was heavily marked by various battle scars. Some may have been dolphin teeth marks as there's no love lost between these two species.
